50A, 3 elements - Interlock two of them?

Why not use CMOS logic to do this? If PID.BOIL.HEAT THEN SSR.BOIL.HEAT IF PID.HLT.HEAT THEN SSR.HLT.HEAT IF PID.RIMS.HEAT AND NOT (PID.HLT.HEAT AND PID.BOIL.HEAT) THEN SSR.RIMS.HEAT 1. IF ANY SINGLE PID ASSERTS HEAT, THEN ITS SSR WILL TRIGGER. 2. IF ANY TWO PIDS ASSERT HEAT, THEIR...

    Soldering Stainless steel

nate456789, Looks like you're just positioning the coupling on the dimple rather than pulling it partly through it. Looks like that works fine. Might be less secure mechanically.

You can find Greenlee punches and punch kits on eBay. In addition to the individual wrench turned punches, it's nice to have one of the hydraulic kits, but the ones from Greenlee are very expensive. But the Chinese kits work with the Greenlee punches. Amazon and Harbor Freight both have...

    A 3-Vessel 2-Tier 1-Pump E-RIMS for 30A

Thanks for the part numbers and sources - Acouple of mine, alternatives to Auber I use giorgio11185 on eBay for SSR's and heatsinks: $14 for a 25amp 480v ssr with heatsink, free shipping for Auber's 40 amp contactor/relay, pioneerbreaker.com has them for half the price, with reasonable...

    A 3-Vessel 2-Tier 1-Pump E-RIMS for 30A

Did you ever post a parts list with sources and prices? sku numbers are helpful as well. Just finding appropriate hardware given all that is out there is a challenge. Even knowing the source, say Mouser, you can spend hours looking for something appropriate. Thanks - Greg M.

`For whatever it's worth, the Harris documentation states that a properly soldered joint will be stronger than a brazed joint, because the higher heat of brazing weakens the metal to be joined. Dunno, but I suppose that they know their products.

    Powering down the sump pump

note - I use a 1/6 hp for a keg cleaner - will run a garden sprinkler, I think. I use a 1/25 hp for my RIMS recirculation only because I plan to do 10 gal plus batches; a 1/50 hp is fine for smaller batches. 1 hp is way overkill - again, check out a little aquarium pump - you don'tneed much...

    Powering down the sump pump

After all this discussion, I think your sump pump is simply over kill. You need maybe an aquarium pump - I've seen them mentioned for chiller recirculation. This is a $10-15 item. I assume you will use a PID controller or other temperature controller to turn the pump on and off. Use your...

    Electric brewery build

I've got one of the 7gal conical fermenters from stout tanks and kettles, and have looked at the kettles and other stuff he sells. For electric kettles, he sells them with a 1 1/2 triclover on the side, and a 1 1/2 tricolver - 1" NPS fitting for mounting the heating element into the kettle...

    Powering down the sump pump

    1) put a valve in the output line and use this to regulate the flow. Restricting the flow is just like asking the pump to pump the liquid higher. It'll only pump so high, and output is reduced the higher the hose end is. 2) never use a dimmer with a motor. There is something that looks like...

nostalgia - still monitoring this thread? I see you soldered a triclover ferrule onto the boil kettle (for the dump valve?) How did that go? It looks like you dimpled it to the outside, and soldered on the inside, but must have fussed to get just the right fit to force the ferrule in from...

    Soldering Stainless steel

wyzazz, Obviously you're right. Torched the locknut to reflow the solder, and the nut settled down on the keg; a little more solder, and a better joint. But I at least don't have the technique down to do it with the torch alone. BTW, I also have a 200/300 watt soldering gun ( for soldering...

    Soldering Stainless steel

Bobby M. early in the thread said he was using a 150 watt soldering iron. People scoffed at this, and I think the overall sense was he was "kidding." And he never really fully responded. I'm having trouble controlling the heat from my torch, and tried a 100 watt iron I inherited from my...

    Soldering Stainless steel

In answer to my own question about the 9/16 vs the 5/8 bolt size for the 1/2 inch keg tool, I note the 9/16 bolt I got is only threaded about 1 1/2 inches at the end, meaning to draw the reducing coupling thru the hole and form the dimple, I'll have to change spacers of some kind. McMasterCarr...
