Need help selecting my first extract beer recipe kit?

That's the Boston Lager, much different from an ale

Gotta push down on QD's to get gas into keg?

Well, I just attached some new quick disconnects to a new keg - only heard a very faint sound of gas moving. I pushed the QD down and then heard a much larger sound of gas moving into the keg. The QD is sitting firmly on the post; it won't go any further down, but for some reason, pushing on...

    Priming Sugar Question?

That's the way to go - always add it to boiled water (sanitation), then add the cooled water to the wort and bottle away

    Newbie Propane Burner question.

Bayou Classic SP10 for $50 on Amazon (free shipping since it's over $25); great little burner that gets the job done. Do a search and you'll find tons of great reviews on this forum for this burner. I've got a 10 gallon megapot; the SOB is 17" wide, 12" tall - it fits just fine on this burner...

What beer kicked your a$$ lately?

None. I drink to enjoy the flavors, not to get drunk.

How can anyone drink Budweiser ...yuck

I like bud and coors; it's great on a hot day or after a long day. It's like cigars - sometimes I want a complex cigar, other times I jsut want something to play with and don't wanna waste a complex cigar when I'm not in the mood to concentrate on the flavors. On my porch, I'll take a nice...

Brewed up NB Shining Star Pale Ale and let it sit in Fridge at 36 for a month...

Yeast in the fridge go inactive; they ferment, but at a MUCH slower rate than normal. Always read the yeast packet and stay within the optimal temperature recommendations, especially during the first few days of active fermentation If I'm reading your post right and your threw the primary in...

Need help on keg kit and project

Get the Taprite T752, about $100 on Amazon. Thing is SOLID, dual regulator, easy turn knobs. Love this thing. Totally recommend going with a dual regulator; you can use one regulator to force carb at one pressue and use the other regulator to force carb at another pressure. If you expand...

Using only primary fermenter vs. primary/secondary

It'll take at least 6 months for any of the trub or yeast to even begin affecting your beer. You can safely leave it in primary for 2 months (been there, done that), and much longer. 6 months is the mark where it might start to produce off-flavors

    Going from keg to bottle

I was kegging a Pumpkin ale, and meant to set aside 6 bottles for a send-off, but totally forgot. I'd assume it'll work, but I figure I'd just ask - if chill and carb the keg, then use the picnic tap to fill the bottles and cap, the beer inside will stay carbed just fine, right?
