Hey guys, where is the venue?

how to use a conical fermenter

Great post John, i follow these methods of trub-dumping for the same reasons.

    My first Infection...

Sucks to dump, but you're going to love the ss chronical

I need help with conical fermenter

All good points and didn't think your post was negative, again I'd have gone the chamber route if it wasn't space prohibitive but I do find the conical easier in terms of transfer and cleanup than that of carboys and the temp control set up and use is a breeze. Pretty much comes down to...

Yes, the ftss cycles hot or cold water through the coil, people use an aquarium heater to heat the water or ice to cool relative to the situation.

Agreed on all points, my nephew in N.C. Has a large area to work with and built a bomb chamber for relatively short $ and can fit several buckets/car boys. My basement is small due to 2 car garage and space is at a premium, which is where this set up really shines for my situation.

My opinion, "what works best" is unique to each individual's wants, needs and bank account. Any of these methods are capable of producing great brew.

I need help with conical fermenter

No prob Steve, you can find right on their website. I want to say $680 with all of the extra barbs, hoses, blow-off valve, etc. not cheap but about 1/2 the price of other brands. I was in the position to either pull the trigger on this or buy and modify a freezer, buy a temp control unit...

Ss brewtech (and others) will cool or heat

I find the opposite to be true, 5 gallon batches in the conical with temp control are much easier than messing with buckets, building a ferm chamber and controller. It is more expensive but far less 'hassle.' The ss brewtech that the op refers to with 'ftss' is a temp controller, not sure...

Best investment ever! Small footprint, dead-on temp control, easy to clean, dump trub, harvest yeast. I went with ss brew tech 7-gallon chronically for my 5-gallon batches. Love it.

    Review: SSBrewTech Chronical 7Gal Fermenter

Great idea, I'll grab a couple, sadly I didn't think about it until brew day and only had zip ties on hand but there is an auto part right by my work so I'll grab these. Thanks for the tip. I'm thinking of grabbing the FTSs extensions to get the coil down lower into the wort.
