Bottling advice for a Barrel-Aged Stout

I did an imperial barrel aged stout and added a pack of safale 05 in the bottling bucket and it turned out great. Rehydrate the yeast in sterile water first. I'm not saying it's the best way, but it worked just fine.

Will using SS kettle to brew before drilling work harden it?

Using it to brew will not work harden the side of the pot. You don't need to do anything other than wash it, though a lot of people will boil a little water in it first.

Fermented to 1.010 in 3 days?!

Yeah, I don't think cold crashing to stop yeast activity is a good idea. After regular fermentation is complete, the yeast will absorb or remove some undesirable flavors they created during fermentation.

My two tier brew stand build

Yup there, are plenty of formulas. If you want to do fancy math, you can make the angle if thr cone whatever you want. I wanted to do the least amount of cutti.g so i did the math so i ended uo witb a half circle. I would actually make it a little oversize next time, that way you could start...

My two tier brew stand build

Well if you cut the cone out as a half circle, then the diameter needs to be exactly double the diameter of the keg where it is cut out.

Thanks! I actually made the cone with nothing but an angle grinder, some clamps, and some pipes. There a threadhttps://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/new-diy-stainless-fermenter-361798-new/. A place called toledo metal spinning sells them, but they're too expensive

    The new DIY stainless fermenter

There are stainless nuts welded to the outside of the keg, then the legs, which are made of unit-strut, are just bolted on.

    The new DIY stainless fermenter

Got this thing all done, put in a fridge, and filled it up this weekend. 10 gallons of hefeweizen. i still need to get the 4 inch triclamp lid configured for a thermowell and blowoff tube.

Finally got to use this thing. Worked great, efficiency was a little low, 75% but not too bad. I was surprised to see the pumo a little tough to prime when pumping from the kettle even thougb the pump was below it. I had to put the pump on the ground to get it to prime.

    Chugger pump

The fittings feeding the pump should be 1/2. You don't want to restrict the inlet or the pump may cavitate. 3/8 on the output will work but your flow will definitely be reduced.

There is a bug in my carboy....

I wouldn't worry about it. If we all the malt we buy is 100% bug free, we are wrong. the fda has acceptable limits for bug parts in all types of food, you might be surprised at how high they are. I doubt one bug will affect anything, if it did sour the beer, there would be so few cells, it...

    Stainless steel mini-keg

Thats pretty cool, I'd like to see some close ups of the welds, they look good from far away.

    Rust on SS weld

This is also my guess, I can likely be fixed or greatly reduced my scrubbing it with barkeepers friend, which is an acidic slightly abrasive cleanser available at grocery or hardware stores or you can make a paste of citric acid powder (available at home brew shops) and water , and let that go...

Help converting a side by side fridge to a fermentation chamber and kegorator

I found this online " On older refrigerators and some new refrigerators, the freezer control controls a damper that slows down or speeds up the rate that the air enters the fresh food section. So if you turn the freezer up, all you do is block airflow going to the fresh food section so that the...
