It's an absolute blast! Think simple IMO. Try to do too much for your fist group brew and you might have real issues. I set my new single tier system on fire last year. Oops all turned out well. And remember to bring beer. It's like the biggest homebrew share you've ever been to!
If you are looking for taprooms... The best in town are Apex, bailey's, Belmont station and Beermongers and green dragon saraveza are the best. All have a great vibe and different feel.
Breweries are a different animal all together.

In searching the forums I found this OLD post and figured i'd share my little experiment... First I started with brewing a batch of saison. then after 10 days in primary i cold steeped some debittered Black malt and added 12 chopped dried plums and boiled the concoction...
