    Checking In From Austin

Samdino, slalomskifreak and any other Austinites: We always do a First Saturday gathering (even if we sometimes slip to the second Saturday) & here's our plan for today: we will meet at Jester King at 1:00 today. They're at 13005 Fitzhugh Road in SW Austin. We have two guys out of town and a...

    Carbonation Emergency

What they said. A day at 30 and one at 20 works fine. Just did this last weekend for a party. Worked fine, plenty of carbonation but not foamy.

    Checking In From Austin

Too bad about the work schedule, but I'll keep you posted and maybe you can make it to a gathering next month. Unfortunately, most of the brewery tours I'm aware of in the Austin area occur on Saturdays: Independence, Thirsty Planet (note the spiffy "club uniform" Thirsty Goat shirts), Live Oak...

    Checking In From Austin

You're welcome to join the Brew Crew. We'll accept anyone, so long as they brew or bring beer. I wouldn't exactly call us a club, but we do get together at least once a month (usually more) and do a brewery tour followed by beer drinking at someone's house. About half are brewers and the rest...

    Can This Marriage Be Saved?

Wilcesar, that's essentially how it went down. Once the faux Tecate started flowing, and with a heat index hovering around 100, we downed hot dogs and beer and drained the whole 5 gallons. Not that people didn't hit the Trip pretty hard as well. The wife worried needlessly. There's nothing...

    Checking In From Austin

Home brewed for years (bottles) then quit for about a decade and now back into it doing kegging with the encouragement of a few HB friends. Some stuff's still the same, but there sure have been equipment improvements. Still, it's still all about yeast, hops, grain, water, cookin' and good times.

    Can This Marriage Be Saved?

After some years away from homebrewing, we decided to brew up a couple of recipes, build a kegerator and get back into brewing. Brewed the beer, a his & hers, built the kegerator, carbonated, tasted. She wanted something Corona-like (hey, you single guys out there, stop laughing), which turned...

What exactly do I need to build my kegerator

I just finished one and a few lessons learned. I'd go with the freezer. A freezer doesn't have to work very hard to hit 38 degrees, a fridge does (did that) I'd build the wooden "collar" with 2 x 6 (I used 2 x 4). The hinges for the freezer will likely be a tad longer than a 2 x 4 can handle...

    Show us your Kegerator

Since we built an outdoor Tiki hut, we tricked ours out with bamboo bling and dubbed it the Tikirator. A converted 7.1 cf Holiday freezer.
