It's possible you have an infection. I've had an infection that didn't ruin the beer, but took away from the major flavors/aromas and gave the beer a really cidery flavor.
What are those jointed, hard-plastic hoses that are usually used inside kettles to direct wort in different directions? I can't seem to find them anywhere.
