White dots growing in my carboy??

Kind of off topic here... But the picture on your post on 12-05 in the middle or so.. The bubble formation looks like a Jason mask.. Kind of freaked me out when I saw it.

    First batch tonight!

At my LHBS the difference between AG and Extract is between 7-10 dollars, the latter being the more expensive.

    Fermentation like energizer bunny

Brewed an IPA about 2 and a half weeks ago that bubbled up to day 8 or 9. Taste tests have been great so far. Wouldn't worry about it.

    making my first IPA

I just recently bottled my first IPA.. Dry hopped for about 5 days with Cascade and have to say the smell/taste was wonderful. Can't wait for this one to get carbbed, I have a feeling its going to be delicious.

    Question regarding carbonation.

70-75 is fine. Just make sure its a darker area that you're storing them in.

    Dry hopping question

I want to preface this by saying that I have read that between 5-7 days is pretty typical for dry hopping, with that said I dry hopped on Saturday and here we are on Wednesday. So we are looking at roughly 4 days or so? Now to my question... Should I go ahead and wait until Saturday to bottle or...

    Secondary Fermenter

There have been a lot of posts on this subject. Some use a secondary some don't. And most will say the instructions out of a kit aren't always the best to follow as far as how long you should ferment before racking to a secondary and or bottling. 5 days seems soon for you to take it out of the...

    Starter kit for new brewer

I have an electric stove and have had no issues getting 4 gallons up to a nice rolling boil. Should be a non-issue depending on how old your stove is I would assume.

    My first kit

Just figure out which kit that you want based off your taste.. Then ask/search these forums for all the answers you need :)

    My first try at brewing

I'd take your brew kettle off your heat source before adding your extract to avoid burning it. Also continuously stirring as your adding it helps as well. Just a suggestion, good luck and congrats on your first brew.

    Sour taste

I noticed my first batch had a sour/metallic taste to it as well. I believe mine was from pulling it off the yeast cake to early and not allowing a good amount of time for the yeast to come behind itself and clean up that taste. As the beer has bottle conditioned it has gotten much better with...

Just brewed my first non Mr. Beer batch.... Yesterday

Well you have 2-4 weeks of primary fermentation before you need to bottle. I have 2 batches fermenting now that I only have enough bottles for one, but I have time to get more. Don't let this deter you from feeding your addiction :)

Just brewed my first non Mr. Beer batch.... Yesterday

I love watching those yeasties.... ANYWAYS. I am about to pick up a deep freeze and a temperature controller to regulate my fermentation. Been having a lot of blow off issues so hopefully that takes care of it. And just to think... 2 months ago I had never even thought of brewing.. welcome back...

    coopers stout

I just recently brewed a Brewer's Best Irish Stout and it was my first time using dry yeast. It suggested re-hydrating before pitching so I did that and woke up the next morning with no fermentation. Came home from work and had some fermentation going on, it was about 18 hours total. Took a...
