Would I be oxygenating my beer by tranfering it to a bottling bucket? I plan on putting the lid on it right after it is transfered but will that expose it to to much oxygen?
Also do you think that I need to put it into a secondary fermentor or is the bucket okay. I am supposed to add some...
Thanks David, my first batch was really murky and I really wanted to make sure this batch was perfect. In my first batch I only used a bucket as my primary fermentor, so I decided to buy a carboy to purify my beer and make it more clear this time. I hope it works! Cheers -Duffman
I currently am fermenting a sierra nevada pale ale clone and it has been in my 5 gallon carboy now for a week. I am pretty sure its is done fermenting. My question is should I buy a secondary fermenter or just transfer my beer from the carboy into the bottling bucket and wait another week and...
Thanks for your help. I guess I will lose some of my brew. I think I will use a 6.5 gallong carboy next time. Just so that I won't lose any of my brew. Great advise... gonna have a brew right now. Duffman
I currently have a 5 gallon carboy that is in the process of fermenting. I found that because of such rapid fermentation almost an entire gallon of my wort moved into my gallon sized blowover system. My question is:
1. Should I just discard my blowover material?
2. Could I put back into...
I stoped warming my carboy. I also agitated my carboy and WOW did it ever take off! :) I needed to reattach my blowoff system. The nice thing was that all the gunk and leftover stuff that was around the neck of the carboy slipped down to the bottom. I hope it was okay to shake the carboy so...
I moved my 5 gallon glass carboy to a warmer place. There is ocasionally a bubble that pops in the airlock. I would say approx. 4 bubbles per minute. Is this okay? Should I continue to raise the temperature untell it is really going? Thanks Duffman.
I brewed my 2nd batch of beer yesterday. It has now been approx. 24 hours since pitching my yeast. I am using a 5 gallon carboy and setup a blowoff system for the beer, and no luck of anything blowning off. There is a little bit of foam that are producing some bubbles. I then attached my airlock...
When I brewed this batch it was with only one fermentor, (a plastic bucket) and it was then transfered to the bottles. My second batch I am using a glass 5 gallon carboy so hopefully that will solve the problem. Hopefully it will not be murky this time. Thanks for the help. Duffman
I am new at making beer but have a quick question. I have only made 2 batches so far, and finally had my first beer that I brewed yesterday. It is in IPA that I made from a kit. The taste/color was okay but the main thing I noticed was that it was not clear. It was so murky that its consistency...
