Reason why I want to boil for doing an extract brew is because of a medicinal
taste I get in beers and failed brews. Anyway I think I have that in hand, ish :)
If I use campden tablets for the bulk of the water then I should avoid having to boil the water, correct?

cheers guys, the UK sucks. You guys certainly have more things available and at a better price.
I am not sure whether I really need to boil 5 gallons if I treat the tap water with campden.

Just wondering how you boil 5 gallons of water? I don't think my stove would be big enough to fit a pan of that size on!

I have been reading John Palmers how to brew tonight and identified a few things.
Just to clarify for all I am just doing those kits which come with the yeast.
What I have been using:
Munton and Fison kits ( made in my hometown :) )
Brewing sugar
I think VWP is one of the culprits...

Started a brew kit on tuesday and just looked tonight and it is doing nothing :( The kit was sitting around for a while but well in date. Shall I ditch it and try again with another beer kit?
