    First homebrew tasting

They probably need more time to carbonate. Also, all of my beers have tasted much better after 6 weeks or so.

    raspberry ale too dry

Yes, it's for a new batch. Just trying to decide how to improve on it with the next attempt. It was a 1-gallon test batch: 2 lbs pale 2-row US-05 dry ale yeast 0.2 oz sterling @ 60 mins 0.2 oz hallertau @ 30 mins 0.2 oz saaz @ 15 mins 0.25 lbs frozen raspberries (in secondary) My newbie...

    raspberry ale too dry

I made a "raspberry blonde ale" with pale 2-row and US-05. Raspberries were added in secondary. It's decent, but too dry. What should I add to give it more sweeteness? (Maybe 10% crystal malt?) Any suggestions? Thanks!

Beer 1 week into lagering, has diectyl taste.

The conflicting advice floating around about ales is bad enough, but it seems that it's 100x worse for lagers :drunk: Worst case scenario I'll take this as a learning experience and do it right next time.

Beer 1 week into lagering, has diectyl taste.

This is my first attempt at a lager. I obviously should have let it ferment in the primary longer (was 9 days) It's been lagering in 35-40F for over a week. Just tasted it and yikes... Orville Redenbacher would be proud. It's a small batch, and so I was trying not to waste half of it with...

    saving money with brewing

As I once read on this forum (not sure who said it) Buying brewing equipment to save money on beer is like buying a boat to save money on fish. I know that I've personally spent a lot more to make beer, than to just go buy some. It's impossible to take equipment out of the equation. Just do it...

New Product! Cool Brewing Fermentation Cooler

I read through the entire thread, trying to decide if this would be handy for lagering. My basement stays around 60F. This bag is the perfect solution for ales, but would I be able to achieve 35-40F temps for lagers? I'm assuming a fermentor in water (considering it's fully insulated) will more...

Is a tight seal on airlock critical?

I've been using a carboy cap like this: http://morewinemaking.com/themes/morebeer/thumbs/500x500/product_images/morebeer.com/1/9939.jpg Should I switch to rubber stoppers, or are these plastic ones fine? I'm concerned that the plastic-on-plastic doesn't give an adequate seal. Or is that...

30% efficiency. Should I dump it?

Results/conclusion: Verrry dry. Stale. No rapsberry flavor whatsoever. These bottles are going down the drain.
