I may have messed up. For serious. Lol

It's got 6.6lbs of dme 3.3 dry malt powder stuff and several other specialty grains. it's a 5gal recipe. I did top off with water, but not much. Used 2 3 gal pots for the boil. I didn't have a hydromter when I first made it, but I siphoned some of the beer off and took my readings. I may...

I may have messed up. For serious. Lol

Ok, so I couldn't figure out why my OG was so high. It's 1.20. Which according to everyone on this forum is high. I'm making a choc. stout. Well, I think I know where I went wrong. Not only is my recipe super malty, like a metric **** ton of malt, but I used a coffee grinder instead of a...

    It sucks

You guys were right, let it sit in the fridge for a few days, still not good, but way better. Had to make the hop tea to make it palatable, but It's on par with most american beers, kinda reminds me of a regular coors, but with a slight molassess taste. I'll peddle this swill off to some of my...

    Secondary fermenters

Alright, I sterilized everything and took gravity on it. I'm confused though, it read twenty and it was under the one, so is it 1.2 or 1.02. Then name of the hydrometer is Wine & beer hydrometer. Picked it up at my local beer store. Also took ph, it was 4ish, kind of hard to tell because my...

    Secondary fermenters

I don't understand og. I've read about it, not sure if I'm clinically retarded or what, but how do you measure it? I know it gives you the malt to hopps ratio, but that's about it.

    Secondary fermenters

My choc. stout recipe that I posted before has been in the fermenter for a bit now. What do you guys do when you rack to secondary fermenters? I know you need to limit churning and oxidation, any tips for someone with a limted budget? Tx, Cuch

    First Day Quitting Smoking

I've tried to quit so many times. Just love smoking cigarrettes. Who wants to live forever anyway? I do wish the cigarrettes didn't make my army physical fitness test so hard though. Lol. Remember when I could do 2 miles in 14:30 without breaking a sweat....now it's 16mins if I'm lucky...

    Please review my first recipe

Sounds pretty tasty to me. Chinook fruitiness and choc malt....mmmm..... Now I'm thirsty. You'll never know until you make it, take good notes and refine it from there. Nice thing about making bad beer is that most people don't know the difference from bad beer and good. You'll be able to...

    Wow, amazing beer.

I've been drinking home brewed beer and micro brew beer my whole life thanks to my stepdad. Turoni's in evansville IN has some amazing beer. I got one of their samplers and it was amazing. I wish I would have brought a paper and pen so I could put my notes of the sampling. If you come in...

    My second brew!!!!

I just typed home brewer recipes into google and the one I saw a lot was stroke of midnight, so I printed it off and took it to the brew store, and the beer guy there helped me amend it. And yes the northern is hops, sorry for the typo.
