    HERMS question

Good question. What I would do is just start to bump your temp up like 10 minutes before the end of your mash. You won't loss too much heat form your MLT in that time and you will then have time to raise your water from the 154 recirc temp to the 170 you want for your sparge. Just remember to...

    Making a "leftovers" batch...help.

Use the DME and honey, a small amount of the crystal 20 and a bit of oats. Warrior for bittering but not too much and the el dorado at 15 min and a light dry hop with the el dorado as well. I would ditch the US-05 and use a spicy belgain yeast if anything, but the 05 will work if you want.

Using a NEST thermostat for temp control?

So did some research. Not that bad. You would need: 1 x Nest 6 feet of thermostat cable 1 x extension cord 6-10 ft prob(to be hacked up for wiring and plugs and such) 1 x 24 VAC to 120 VAC Solid State Relay (or more depending on how many things you want to control) 1 x 120 VAC to 24...

Using a NEST thermostat for temp control?

If you have a few free ones than you could def do this. It should be relatively straight forward. HVAC signals normally run on 24V AC. If you do a search for a 24V AC relay all sorts of stuff comes up. Just find one that is speced for 120V or whatever your house is and wire it up to a plug...

    To insulate or not insulate??

After looking through your build, I don't think you NEED it. It wouldn't hurt to have it, but I really don't see it costing you hardly anything in extra cooling costs. You could throw a Kill-a-watt on it measure it for a while, then try it with some temporary insulation and see if it makes a...

    To insulate or not insulate??

\ Pics? I think it depends a bit on where you have it and what your ambient temp is like, but insulating it can't hurt. If it's in your basement or some place that is always cool, you don't have to worry about it as much, but in a warmer environment insulation could potentially save you...

    Bar Build/Basement overhaul... Progress tracker

You won't believe this, but I've actually made some progress on my basement. After two years of the brewery being up and running (2nd Anniversary was on Feb 1st, fastest, and best, two years of my life :ban:) I finally had a few days and a bit of money to do some work on this thing! I put...

    Electric 1.5 BBL Upgrade

Thanks for reading. Things are going quite well. We broke my business plan first year goal which is good and the company made a small profit, which I am very happy with. I am constantly reinvesting in the company so I could have made a larger profit if I had been a cheap a$$. I have decided...

    Electric 1.5 BBL Upgrade

I have two march pumps. Just used a threaded TC fitting to connect to the pumps. The inlet and outlet of the pump are smaller than an inch (can't remember exactly, 1/2" maybe), but it works fine.
