American Wheat Beer American Wheat Beer - 2nd place Best of show - 2011 HBT BJCP competition

I used light munich and it turned out great. Caramunich would likely work just fine. It's a half pound, it'll be close enough. Columbus would be fine for the bittering addition, I think Columbus works well as a bittering hop for almost all styles. I used Galaxy for the flavor/aroma additions in...

American Amber Ale Hoppy American Amber or Malty American Pale Ale?

Good luck on the competition, this was one of the best beers I've brewed and I think you'll do well. Might get some feedback that it's too hoppy for style but if it's American Amber there might be some leeway.

    Nugget hops?

I brewed a 100% Nugget pale ale. Grist was something like 9lb 2 row, 1lb Honey malt, 1lb flaked barley. It's my go to APA grist and I've made a killer all Citra pale with it so I know it's solid. I added 2oz whole leaf homegrown Nugget at 10, 5, and flame out. Dry hopped with 7oz (I know) of the...

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

Did this recipe with .5 oz Centennial at 30 for the hop schedule (15 ibu) instead of the listed hops. Pitched onto a cake of Wyeast 2565 from a previous brew. Absolutely terrific beer. Nice grainy taste, easy going bitterness. I could drink this all day. Perfect for summertime and does exactly...

American Wheat Beer American Wheat Beer - 2nd place Best of show - 2011 HBT BJCP competition

Wow. What an amazing recipe. Amazing fresh wheat ale flavor with a nice yeasty background. Subdued bitterness and a nice citrusy kick from the Centennial. Some of the compliments I've received so far: "I could drink a gallon of this." "This is the perfect session beer." "I don't like wheat...

American Amber Ale Hoppy American Amber or Malty American Pale Ale?

I brewed this maybe a month and a half ago and have been drinking it for the last couple weeks. I brewed it to the recipe and it's the best beer I've brewed so far. Rich malty backbone with a nice smooth mouthfeel (I attribute this to both the oats and the yeast) along with solid, almost IPA...

Double IPA Hop Juice Imperial IPA

It's been 3 months since brewday and this beer is finally peaking. It was hot and green at 1 month, and still weird at 2, but now is terrific. I've waited to give feedback until the beer was drinkable and it's super drinkable now. Thanks again to BarleyWater for the recipe. I'd recommend this to...

Double IPA Hop Juice Imperial IPA

I'm brewing this as we speak with the following modifications to put a personal twist on this recipe: Tried a small partial mash. Took people's advice and added an extra pound of DME. Didn't have Warrior so I subbed Nugget. Didn't have Willamette so I subbed Fuggles. Added 0.5oz Chinook and...

Blonde Ale Simple Blonde Ale (Extract)

I'd like to report that I made this recipe exactly as originally posted and it's terrific. Malty sweetness up front with a nice refreshing bitter finish. Outstanding "gateway" beer for those who drink MBC. My buddy who thinks New Glarus Spotted Cow is the best beer he's ever had and has yet to...

Simple Higher Alcohol Extract Brew On A Budget

http://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/108392/cheap-old-ale I just whipped that together using Brewers Friend. Uses nothing but Amber LME, 1oz Nugget, 1oz Goldings. True to style for Old Ale. Runs $33.01 + shipping from Northern Brewer, might be cheaper elsewhere.

Simple Higher Alcohol Extract Brew On A Budget

Just curious, why are you insisting it be high ABV? You could make some amazing session beer for cheap, and it'll be delicious, just not exactly high alcohol, more in the 3.5-5% range which is still nothing to sneeze at compared to MBC.

My HB gives me bad hangovers

Judging by your inability to use proper punctuation, maybe you're not actually old enough to drink beer? Wait a few more years and try it again, you might like it. Oh, or what others said.

Three Floyd's Gumball Head Extract Clone?

I followed Nail's recipe to the T and ended up with a fantastic beer that's just now reaching it's prime (1 month after bottling). It's a little harsh after two weeks in the bottle but give it a few extra weeks after it carbs and it will really shine. Terrific hop aroma and flavor (love...
