    So I brewed this Fri along with a IPA. I used 1 1/2 habs in the boil and followed the recipe. My OG was high(1.091) don't know how I ended up short on my water, anyway tasted my gravity sample and tasted no heat. Brought gravity down to 1.062 and tasted again, no heat.     Compressor in chest freezer died

    Surf, I have had the luck of getting them going by hitting them(compressor) with a hammer. I usually use a dead blow type hammer that way there is not much damage to the compressor, but i have used a ball peen. Most(not all) of the times that will by you some time, I've had them go for a year...

    Riesling clarity

    Did you degas it ? From what I understand it needs to be degassed before it will completely clear. I just made my first batch also a riesling, started on 3-11-12 degassed on 4-9-12 and is clear as can be. I'll be bottling it this week. I know its not much help! Good luck
