    De-Gassing

I never thought of that. Thanks for opening my eyes yooper. I didn't take into account the time afterwards. But i still think it seems better them whipping it with a drill Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    De-Gassing

I meant through vacuum. I can't fathom oxygen getting into a vacuum that will fill with CO2 Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    De-Gassing

Yes i agree, i just love to see a pretty clear carboy full of my time and labor. I still let it set and bulk age. Would degassing hurt it in anyway? I understand it seems pointless but harmful? Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    De-Gassing

Not to argue. But wouldn't vacuum aided degassing be far less dangerous of oxidation, since the air is pulled out. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    De-Gassing

Theres no right or wring way. Well, pouring it on the ground would be wrong but i digress. I find a vacuum pump easier. But if your wine/beers/ciders/whatever are very foamy. You will find how many pumps will cause i What i call a carbonation break, it will foam like crazy the die back down. Its...

    Strawberry Cider (in progress)

I don't have any buckets. And I'm not planning on getting one. I stick by carboys. If i do any other risky fruitcap wines. Ill find a small food grade bucket, like my Mr. beer fermenter Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    De-Gassing

It seems very similar. I looked through amazon and couldn't find my exact model. So its the same concept but may have to be mod'ed different Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    De-Gassing

Ive heard alot of people say that, and honestly its not that bad. Ill give it a couple pumps when i think about it. Ever few hours or so Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    De-Gassing

Just wanted to share my method of degassing. I take a winesaver hand vacuum pump and fit a airlock onto the mount. i thicken the airlock with electrical tape, then when its steated into the vacuum end, i give it a liberal wrapping with electrical tape. Now all you have to do is push it into a...

    Strawberry Cider (in progress)

I had started a raisin wine. The next day i was pushing the cap down every hour. Decided to go to a dinner party, came back and i had a tub of bubbling raisin juice, (i use a tub that hasn't seen water in years to put all my carboys in case of foam overs and apparently exploding) Sent from my...

    Strawberry Cider (in progress)

No I avoided the bottle bombs. I feel this could use a back sweeting. But then there's no chance of fermentation. You think a bottle bomb is bad. I had a one gallon carboy get plugged up and split into pieces

    Buying honey

Let me ask my question in a different way. Will honey with the True source label have all the pollen pulled out. Where its not even considered honey anymore. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Buying honey

So if it has the true source certification, does that mean its good honey? Or can it still be crappy? Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Strawberry Cider (in progress)

Im so embarrassed to say this, i had a contamination. I used my mr.beer fermenter and it came out tasting like beer. So most of my family loved it but i wouldn't drink it on an abandoned island. It would have been beautiful. Maybe ill try again another day. I learned my lesson to always clean...
