If you are using RO water - are you adding anything to it? Have you checked your mash pH?
Adjust your recipes to match your efficiency in the mean time.
Could use an anti-siphon tube. (Bent tube that goes inside the tank so that when the tank is in the correct position the tube points upwards and doesn't suck in liquid that freezes the regulator)

If you are prepared to order a new one you might as well try to strip the one you have now and if it goes wrong it's not a big deal. Could always install it through the collar if you have one. Or just leave it.
