    Monster Mill Crush Help

Thanks for the feedback. This was my first recipe with rye, so I didn't understand the kernel and the stickiness. I kept wondering why everything was so much stickier than normal. I'm pretty sure I used three heaping handfulls of rice hulls. I went back and looked at my efficiency on the...

    Monster Mill Crush Help

Ok fellas - I'm still having trouble dialing in my Monster Mill 2-2.0. What do you guys think of this crush? The grain bill is Denny's Rye IPA (11 # two row, 3# rye, #.5 wheat, #.5 carapils, 1.25 # C-60). I conditioned the malt with 2% water from a spray bottle. The gap is set such that...

    Blichmann Boilermaker - 10 vs 20 Gallon ??

So it looks like 20 gallons is out. I guess I need to decide between 10 and 15 gallons based on how frequently I would do 10 gallon batches. If I were going to do 10 gallon batches, how would I age the kegs? I live in Texas so its usually very warm. I could keep kegs inside at room...

    Blichmann Boilermaker - 10 vs 20 Gallon ??

Thanks for the feedback. With my keggle, my preboil volume is just under 7.5 gallons to end up with 5.5 to the fermenter. I wonder what the difference is between my keggle setup and the Blichmann. I think I've read that the keggle is not the most efficient vessel. I also wonder if I'm just...

    Blichmann Boilermaker - 10 vs 20 Gallon ??

I have a question regarding sizing for a new Boilermaker I plan to purchase this week. I am currently doing 5 gallon all grain packages. I would like to upgrade to 10 gallon batches in the near future but don't have any additional equipment to support 10 gallon batches right now. Are there...

    Gelatin Problem

I've used the same gelatin process with sucess for several batches. My standard process is to let one packet of gelatin bloom for an hour in a cup of room temp water. From there, I would heat to 180 and then cool to about 80. Three days later the keg was as clear as could be. Since I had to...

Are there no small, single bucket ferm chillers?

I use a Red Bull cooler like the one in the photo. It will hold one 6.5 gallon bucket perfectly. For a $40 Craigslist investment, it has done its job.
