    Cornys 18L or 19L ???

Im wanting to purchase 2 more ball lock corny kegs (2 isnt enough!!) but im getting confused as some suppliers quote 18 litres and others 19 litres. Are there 2 types of corny kegs apart from the different handled ones???

Cool - picked up heaps of advice from the lady and I now have an English Bitter kit with grains and extra hops :)

    Sooooo Malty

Excellent Buddykin! Im in Melbourne and work in Mt Waverley so Wellington Road is very close. I didnt know there was one around here so if you can provide any other info that would be cool. I was reading Charlie P's book again last night and I think I will start off easy with his...

    Sooooo Malty

I have been boiling kits for at least 15 mins but the prospect of the full extract and steeping is still a little daunting. I have The Complete Joy of Home Brewing which has led to my experiments so far. Unfortunately my LHBS is really supply only and is not much help with anything other than...

    Sooooo Malty

Damn! I havent seen a kit manufacturer that lists the ingredients with quantity so adding extra hops would be a guess. Will adding extra hops just turn it into a bitter sweet beer? I think I read I would need to boil the hops to add bitterness as it isnt for aroma or flavor?? The recipe is in...

    Sooooo Malty

After reading a few books I had decided to ditch dextrose in my kit beers and start using extract malts instead (for a little more flavor and body). I recently made a Morgans Bitter kit with 1Kg of Liquid Light Malt Extract. The results at 3 weeks after bottling are a very sweet malty brew and...

    CO2 taps in oz

Sorry for the inaccurate description but yes I think I will either have to do 2 regulator thing as per Chris K or just you a T piece with 2 gas shutoff valves. Unfortunately the Beveragefactory have not responded to 2 emails I sent regarding if they ship to OZ so im trying to find somewhere local.

    CO2 taps in oz

Hi, I wonder if one of my Oz counterparts could direct me to a place to purchase a 2way tap. I want to have 2 kegs but be able to carbonate one whilst still dispensing the other. I cant really afford another regulator so I would turn down the tap on the dispensing keg im thinking. Is there an...

    Confused about steeping

Yeh I was thinking the same thing when I saw seefresh. cfresh is about 25 years old and was originally captain fresh but I have matured a little (or at least I think I have) and shortened it... Im glad you pointed that out as I would have been pulling them out every time I added new hops...

    Confused about steeping

Ahhhh some more reading is required to answer that question. As I understand it I think I will be adding hops initally for 30 mins for bittering, then 10 mins from end add some for flavour, and at flame out some for aroma. Quantities etc I have no idea at this point which is why I need to read...

    Confused about steeping

After reading a thread about steeping grains I went on a bit of a tangent and checked out howtobrew.com and also re-read what I thought was correct in Charlie Papazians book. These 2 seemingly very knowledgable sources of information appear to disagree when it comes to steeping specialty grains...

Little or a lot of grain

Sorry for the dumb noob question and a bit off topic, but does your comment about extra light DME mean you use only light dry malt extract (powdered form) and just add hops and specialty grains to make your brew? If so how much Light DME would you use as a base for a brew? I want to move off of...

    Re-using bottles

I have re-used twist top bottles many many times with a bench top capper. I have never had sealing issues and much to my surprise the bottles are getting on 3 years old without cracking up from repeated use. However, after 3 years of bottles I feel its now time for some keg action!
