Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

Who wants to speculate more. Latest video is brewing on the old system. around 4:15 they make a point to highlight their "secret sauce" addition. Is it just salts? mystery chemicals? literally nothing and they're trolling? You decide.

    Secondary Regulator Question

    Cool insight, thank you.

    Secondary Regulator Question

I think SanPacho was specifically talking about primary regulators, not secondary. No secondary regulator should be attached straight to a bottle. However I don't think you can use a CO2 primary on a Nitrogen bottle (if you found a way to adapt the different threads). Nitrogen is at a much...

    Secondary Regulator Question

Cool, thank you everyone. I know it matters on flow meters (experience from the welding world), which is what made me second guess pressure regulators. And yea, the way I plan on using this is set the primary regulator on the Nitrogen tank to the high pressure used for the stout/nitrogen tap...

    Secondary Regulator Question

I think this is a dumb question, however, is there any reason a secondary low pressure regulator that is sold for CO2 can't be used for Nitrogen? I mean once you've done the main bottle interface everything downstream is just pressure right? I know primary regulators aren't directly swappable...

Planning a basement brewery, what are your essential must haves?

The tank is very much still in use. New home means all kinds of new systems to me. Oil burning furnace, well water, radon mitigation, all kinds of fun. But unfortunately no reclaiming that space.

Planning a basement brewery, what are your essential must haves?

Outlets is a good point. I need to figure out how many spots are left in my breaker panel, and how much is already on the basement circuit. I know what I'll need to setup my existing equipment, but more outlets are more better, great point. I do already have a fermentation chamber, old dorm...

Planning a basement brewery, what are your essential must haves?

After more than a decade in a crappy apartment I finally bought a house, which means I have some space for a dedicated brew space. And since I haven't used my brew setup in about 2 years I'm looking forward to actually getting back into it. I don't plan on overhauling the brewing equipment much...

What to line custom kegorator with?

FRP is a decent idea, since they use it for bathrooms I know it will bond to silicone. I've been kind of just using the word plastic as a placeholder for whatever material I end up using. PET of some variety isn't a bad option either.

What to line custom kegorator with?

Engineer by trade, I have zero hand drawing skills so CAD is my sketchbook. I do most of my projects in CAD first to get a good handle on what I need to build. The bar was fully modeled before I even started, so I just made a copy of the design and changed the shelves and wine rack out for an...

What to line custom kegorator with?

I'll clarify the statement. The fridge itself would fit under that bar, there is space. But it would still be a mini fridge stuffed under the bar, and my woodworking skills aren't good enough to wrap it nicely enough to not look awful. But my general construction skills are decent enough that I...

What to line custom kegorator with?

This is the bar, I built it a couple years ago for the apartment I lived in. The house we bought already had a bar area that we'll use for all the bottles and glassware. We're putting the old bar in the kitchen to use mostly as a coffee+tea station. We have nowhere really good to put the old...

What to line custom kegorator with?

For sure that would be easier. But doing it this way lets me design it to hold exactly the kegs I want with a bit more room. The current fridge holds two but is very cramped. I'd like to make room for 3 plus a small reservoir to hold coolant to run through the tower in order to keep the lines...

What to line custom kegorator with?

I'm working on a project to build a kegorator into a small freestanding bar I had built. The idea is to dismantle my old kegorator fridge and build the refrigeration pieces into a custom built enclosure. The fridge was one that used the freezer shelf as the cold plate, so stripping all the old...

12 Beers of Christmas 2019 Edition

Thinking through, I think it might make sense to skip this year. I plan on buying a house and moving this year, and I don't want to get halfway through the year only to realize I can't deliver. Better to offer the spot up now. I'll watch and jump in for 2020 since I enjoyed the 2018 version.
