Pumpkin Ale...Getting the most pumpkin flavor

I used 30 oz of canned pumpkin. Spread it on a baking sheet, sprinkled pumpkin pie spice and brown sugar on it, and baked it for 45 minutes. I then added it to the last 5 minutes of the boil, and dumped everything in the primary. I am actually bottling mine today, but the pumpkin sludge...

First Brew in the Primary For 2 Weeks!

Well the pumpkin ale will be in the primary for 4 weeks this coming Saturday. I opened the bucket and got a reading yesterday. It's right where it needs to be. The beer is actually much clearer than I expected since I dumped 3 cans of pumpkin in the bucket as well. I would think 4 weeks is...

First Brew in the Primary For 2 Weeks!

I used canned pumpkin. Spread 3 12oz cans onto a baking sheet, sprinkled brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice on top, then baked it for 45 minutes. I added it to the boil with 5 minutes left. Then dumped the entire sludge into the primary. I was concerned with the beer not clearing up, but...

First Brew in the Primary For 2 Weeks!

I just opened the primary after two week to check out my pumpkin ale. I dumped everything from my boil into the bucket, including the pumpkin sludge, two week ago. The beer looks a little cloudy still, but I was surprised at how clear it is, with very little pumpkin residue floating around...

    First Time Brewing Pumpkin Ale

Anyone have an opinion on how long it should sit in the primary? I used 2 cans of pumpkin and dumped the entire thing into my primary. Another question, should I transfer to secondary after a few weeks, or will the beer settle and clear enough in primary to bottle? Thanks for the help!

    First Time Brewing Pumpkin Ale

Well I brewed yesterday and the fermentation process has already started. The primary is sitting in my spare bedroom, hovering around 67 degrees. The air lock is bubbling away! I ended up baking the pumpkin for 45 min. with some brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice. I added it to the boil for...

    First Time Brewing Pumpkin Ale

Thanks for the tips guys. I am going to start this brew tomorrow, and I will let you know how it turns out. I think I am going to bake the pumpkin to caramelize, then add to the boil. Would anyone recommend straining the pumpkin while transferring to primary, or is it best to let sit on...
