    Tropical Amber recipe critique

So, I decided to swap the chocolate malt for 1/2# 120L crystal malt but I think everything else is gonna stay the same. Ordering the ingredients tonight. Real excited to brew it up!

    Tropical Amber recipe critique

wtfDean: I'll definetly look at replacing the chocolate. Good point on it turning into a brown. BreezyBrew: Really great article. I'm going to have to take a hard look at my recipe tonight after reading that. Also, what do you mean that hoppy and malty don't work together? Thanks for the...

    Tropical Amber recipe critique

Hi everyone, I haven't brewed in some time due to work and such, but I'm finally getting back in to it. Brewed a low abv saison a couple days ago and a porter about a month back. Anyhow, I am looking to brew up a five gallon batch of an amber ale that is full of tropical fruit goodness...

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

I've got a rack of baby backs in the smoker now. A nice rub and a 70-30 mix of hickory and apple woods. Should be done in ~3 hours. Cant wait.

    Saison recipe and Q

Picked everything up (minus the yeast, ugh) today and hope to brew in the next day or two. Changed the hops to 1 oz pearl at 60 and kept the rest of the saaz the same. Thanks again for the help!

Homebrew shops not supportive of Military

When I was stationed in Japan I just searched till I found a HB shop that shipped to APO. Sucked but like others have said, it is what it is. Williamsbrewing.com will ship to apo/fpo via usps. Or, you can use services like http://www.shipitapo.com/ .

    Saison recipe and Q

Kylewolf: I've never added sugar to my HB before so this will be another fun first on this brew. How does 3# LME and 1# corn sugar sound? I would like a dry finish on this beer so if the sugar is gonna help I'm all for it. As for a substitution for the first addition of Saaz, how about 2oz...

    Saison recipe and Q

After finally feeling like I'm settled in my new apartment enough to really move past extract/steeped grain brewing and on to some partial mash brewing. I'm gonna follow DeathBrewer's stovetop partial mash method as it seems like a great way to make the jump. Having never made a saison...

Problems getting gas to the keg

OK, well, nevermind I guess. I didn't turn it far enough it looks like. But, that opens up another question. The knobs were VERY difficult to turn far enough to get gas flowing. ANyway to lubricate or ease the turn of the knobs or do I just have to use the fantastic power that is my arm...

Problems getting gas to the keg

New to kegging and I just got my 5lb co2 tank filled and hooked it up to my regulator. The high pressure gauge reads 900 psi. When I go to adjust my low pressure gauges with the pressure control knobs nothing happens. Nothing. The gauges stay at 0 psi. No leaks either. I tried with it...

Help a Sailor/student in the Baltimore or DC area

Hi. I'm in need of some homebrewers help but not in the normal brewing way. FIrst, let me explain what I'm doing: I'm in the Navy and I was stationed in Japan for the last three years. I'm currently going through some advanced training at the Defense Information School at Fort Meade, Md. I'm...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Took another taste off my keg tonight (kegged and primed Dec 17). The green fresh taste has subsided a bit since my first taste and is now much more drinkable. Still has a distinct tart flavor but the apples are showing through more. A little bit of sweetness but mainly a background...
