    Any harm in adding the bourbon to secondary with oak chips. Just thought I would soak chips in bourbon and add together instead of boiling chips and adding chips at secondary and bourbon at bottling.

    Just made a mash tun with copper manifold in a 48 Qt Coleman rectangular cooler. I ran a test batch of water through and because the drain is above the manifold there was little over a gallon of water left in the cooler. Is this a problem and if so any suggestions for a fix?

    Yes I have a 1/2" ball valve. A 1/2 hose barb connects directly to ball valve. But I'm considering reducing to 3/8 hose barb for slower drain. Guess I could experiment and try it both ways

    Should I use a 3/8" ID or 1/2" ID hose to drain converted cooler mash tun. Seems most sites suggest a 3/8 but if speed is important seems 1/2 would work faster.

    Thanks. Yes, only 3/4 cup corn sugar. I'm also adding 4 oz of lactose. Would you just combine the corn sugar and lactose and boil in 1 cup water?
