    Sam's Choice Sparkling Cider

No not really,I normally let it ferment till it stops, it turns out pretty dry. I did a couple of batches where i cold crashed it by bringing the temp of the juice down to around 40 degrees over one night. Everything fell out of solution and had no yeast activity. I did eventully find out i...

    Massive Strength Hard Cider

Its has been in the bottle for over a year now, haven't opened it since last new years. Its clear as a bell and has a beautiful caramel color and smells amazing. Last year it was massively fiery with the ABV. If i had half a mind I would run it though a pot still and make apple mead brandy. I...

    Massive Strength Hard Cider

Damn, I am shocked you guys still read this. To answer your question. I never did rack. This idea was to add fermentable along with more liquid. Basically turing up the achohal slowly enough, and with more neutrients to yeast to live as long as possiable. So I started with a 5 gallon carboy and...

    Raw Materials

I get 90% of everthing from my LHBS, but anything else I get from either midwest homebrewer, or from amazon.com. Decent prices, great slection, and easy to work with. The only trouble i ever had was with the shipping company directly, and they cant help it if fed-ex or the post office dosent...

    Still hate bottling.

I dont much like botteling either, its mindless, repetitive, and alot of work. I dont brew enough to keg though, just means I don't bottle all that often.

Oh Dear God Bells Hopslam is amazing

The Bells brew shop in Kalamazoo will help you put togather a clone kit right there in the store if you ask the guys behind the front desk nicely. They helped me put togather an winter white clone and I was in there the other day while they were helping a guy with an Oberon clone kit and a...

FG/ABV question - did I do something wrong?

do you often use kits? It is in my observation that kits very often don't have enough extract or have instructions which have leave ones OG a bit lacking. I have found that often enough even that when youve completed your boil the OG is fine but when topping off you lower the temp cause a...

    RO for Light Colored beers?

hmmm. I too have hard water. Never noticed if my lighter beers had an aftertaste more then my darker. considering I don't often do them its not entirely impossiable. I would say that RO water would be ideal for all types of brewing not just lighter colored beers.

    What do you chill with?

I have a 30 gallon toat that I fill 1/3 full of ice or snow (depending on the season) and then take my pot and snug it down in there. Takes about 30 min. Old school. Drink them in good health
