Funny things you've overheard about beer

Gometz: Had the Fanzones here too and apparently they were pretty cool. Managed to get tickets to four games and for the last 2 got some whiskey smuggled in to mix with my water aka beer. All in all was great.

    Second batch very bitter.

Not sure about the yeast, it was just a plain white 5g packet with a serial number on it. I'll just give it a few more weeks in the bottle and hope for the best. At least it's beer!

Same yeast as for the pilsner. Yep, wort ready just add water and yeast.

    Second batch very bitter.

I doubt it was lager yeast. It came with the kit and had the same serial number as the pilsner. The "Lager" was in the fermentor for 6 weeks.

    Second batch very bitter.

The first beer we brewed was a winner for friends and family alike, it was the Mangrove Jacks Czech Pilsner LME "just add water and beer enhancer" type beer. It tasted sweet after a week in the bottles but the sweetness faded and we loved it. This time, with the same process but a different...

    Any South African Homebrewers?

Hi fellow South Africans, A friend of mine and I have just started brewing. We bought a Copper Tun starter kit from: http://www.brewcraft.co.za/ and are about to bottle our second batch. Problem is the 130km trip to Jhb just to get cleanser and sanitizer packets when in need. To bypass this...

Is HDPE #2 Ok for a fermentation vessel?

The buckets are semi see through opaque white, the plastic looks very similar to the fermentor we got with the starter kit. The product isn't bagged in the buckets but apparently they rinse them with sanitized water to get everything out. Have visited the hatchery and it looks more like a...

Is HDPE #2 Ok for a fermentation vessel?

Have tried but nothing under those exact names, only similar. Next time I will take note of the ingredient/chemical breakdown on the tubs and repost here. Hopefully they are the same product under a different name...
