    Wite gauge

Agreed. 10-3 romex is the correct wire for most cases.

    Lighting up the hood vent

Maybe something like this? I used something like these for my under cabinet lights in my kitchen, have been working for 3 years without issues at this point. Your use case will be wetter and hotter than mine, but I suspect they would work fine.

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I am using one. I ordered this one from the usual place. I don't believe that I spent that much for it though.

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

On the bottom of the unit is a metal pin that protrudes from the bottom to be used in the event a dry-fire of the element causes the system to shutdown. Based on your description, I wondered if that is what may be the issue, but looking at the manual, there would be an error code associated...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I did not have that problem on my test run and cleaning today. However, there is a reset switch/button on the bottom, which maybe would help?

    Partigyle Porter/Brown Ale for critique/help

Sorry for reviving this ancient thread... I fell out of brewing for quite a while, but coming back now. I was thinking about brewing this again, and checked in to see if my recipe was still here. I saw the requests for updates that I never gave...so this zombie thread is being revived just...

Started wiring my brew shed today...30A service in to a Home Depot spa panel, 2x20A circuits to lights and outlets. :)

    Design Ideas

My current thinking involves 240/3500W HLT, 120V/1500W hex, 240/4500W BK. The HLT element will be shut off for sparge with the water traveling through the hex to ensure it is the proper temperature. That way I do not have to worry about water level in the HLT while maintaining temp for the...

    Design Ideas

Hello, all. I am taking the eBrewing plunge, and come to you humbly soliciting advise, criticism, and help. I keep waffling back and forth between a traditional HLT-based herms and a separate, smaller self-contained hex for my system. Currently it is based on 2 10G coolers and a 15G kettle...

Planning to Dry Hop in Primary? Bad idea?

I dry hop in primary regularly. It has been a great way to save time/effort on brews that don't benefit from secondary (which is most of the beers I brew). I just put whatever hops I am using straight into the fermenter after the first week or three. 1 week with the hops, then cold crash...

Which Beer Took Your "BMC Virginity"

In college in the early '90's in Baltimore they had beers from what was at the time Foggy Bottom Brewery (I think...). They brewed something called "Olde Heurich", and I remember that first bottle like it was yesterday.

    East Coast beers

The Heavy Seas beers from Clipper City brewing in Baltimore...some good beers there. I like their Loose Cannon IPA. Edit: And anything from Great Lakes Brewing Company, Thirsty Dog or Hoppin' Frog in Ohio are pretty darn good, too.
