Best way to add lactose, vanilla, and cold brew coffee post fermentation

Turning our pumpkin spice porter into a Basic B**ch Pumpkin Spice Latte porter. Trying to minimize cold side oxidation. Got about 5ish gallons of a 1.060 OG, now 1.014, porter we want to add the aforementioned ingredients to post fermentation. Poor planning led to this post-ferm doctoring idea...

Vent hood CFM question: 760 versus 900

Well haven’t put it to the full test yet. It’s been THAT long since a brew day. Like everything else, I blame it on the wife and kids :) But I’ll try a water test soon and report back!

Vent hood CFM question: 760 versus 900

Thanks for the input guys. Despite the admittedly solid advise of the condenser, I ultimately purchased a 900 cfm hood. It’s installed directly out of the wall with less than 3ft of duct. Won’t get to really test it out until this weekend or next, but I’ll report back. It’s pretty powerful...

Vent hood CFM question: 760 versus 900

Looking at installing a vent hood and just wondering if I’ll notice a difference between 760 and a 900 CFM. I run a 30 gallon electric Spike kettle doing 10-1/2bbl batches. The 760 CFM hood is a 36” wide, and the 900 CFM hood is 30” wide. It’s the $200-$300 hoods on Amazon. Links below. Or if...

My semi walkin 5000 btu fermentation chamber

hmm. i posted the above before seeing you last post.. i can use the ranco somewhere else in my setup, like controlling my spare fridge or mash temp even.. another stc is $18, not too hard to swing. i ferment in conicals and also in sankes. sankes fit in the fridge, conicals do not, hence the...

My semi walkin 5000 btu fermentation chamber

ok. so the plug's hot & neutral in 1 & 2. plug's hot in 7, compressor's hot in 8... plus sensor wires. ground from plug going nowhere. this is making sense now and is what you were trying to get across initially. got it. finally. ha! i guess as long as the stc resets back to the original...

My semi walkin 5000 btu fermentation chamber

i was talking about the male plug wired to the STC that would plug into the ranco.. so if i'd wire it direct to the compressor, how exactly should i wire the STC? would you pull the hot lead from the A/C power to wire into terminal 1 & 7 with one lead from 8 going to the compressor, and that...

My semi walkin 5000 btu fermentation chamber

true. I think that's most likely what I'll do in the short term. thanks for all the help! one quick question though, where should the ground go for the plug wired into the STC power if I'm ditching the outlet? sorry. I'm dumb with electrical work and honestly probably shouldn't be...

Show us your sculpture or brew rig

I have a window a/c unit in my guest bathroom to control the ambient temp and, yes, a stainless coil installed through the lid for fine tuning temps. no glycol setup yet, just recirculating ice water through the coil for the moment. that's mine. scored them with midwest's 20% off deal they did...

My semi walkin 5000 btu fermentation chamber

Well, I don't have any additional insulation besides taping up the air leaks on the doors & overhead a/c vent, but the walls, & ceiling were well insulated when the house was built. the window is insulated (not sure of the rating) and the doors are pretty solid as well.. it's definitely not as...

My semi walkin 5000 btu fermentation chamber

yeah I'm pretty good at over complicating things.. lol.. i do have my a/c sensor connected to a heat source (taped to an always-on fermwrap), so I'm getting into the 56-58 range in its current state. My fermentation chamber is my guest bathroom. the window unit is in the window, of course.. I...
