    Are you possible over-pitching your yeast? Some of the flavors you get from yeast are produced during the reproduction phase. If you severely over-pitch, you will lose some of the flavor profile associated with the yeast.

    In my first post I selected simple starter. After re-running with stir plate as the selection, it looks like two vials with a 1L starter will be enough.

    According to MrMalty you will need 314 Billion yeast for this. A 1L starter is no where near enough. If you have no other options, then I would go with the 1L starter + stir plate plus another vial of yeast. What might be better is making two 1L starters but even that is a little too low.
