    Using Old malt extract.

Still interesting points. Moreover, using that for an imperial might yield some cool results, I assume? Thanks again.

    Using Old malt extract.

That's the funny thing @BrewnWKopperKat, it was from an old brewing kit from a few years back. I had this extra can and completely forgot about it until a year or two ago.

    Using Old malt extract.

For both of you, I appreciate the guidance. For another brew I will stick with that advice. Using another DME with this sounds neat, I believe I have had a conversation with a brewer from Nordic Brewpub in Minnesota about how they do that same thing periodically. Also, yes I enjoy Bad Habit...

    Using Old malt extract.

So, quick question. Would this still be salvageable? If so, great, if not okay then. I have some books at home for homebrewing, but nothing about using malt extract after an expiration date. I can easily look the information up online. However, I would prefer using your insight folks. Thanks...

    Kilgore's Stout/Question/Help?

I appreciate the swift replies from you all. The next batch I will follow this advice (if I remember, I do document everything via notepad). I can always post here everytime. I may wind up posting shortly, O.J Spiced Meade.

    Kilgore's Stout/Question/Help?

Everyone of your reply's were insightful. I appreciate it. A DIY wort chiller? I believe a coworker of mine mentioned using copper wiring and immersing that into his bucket (1990's) during his transition. As for the no-chill brews. Do stouts/porters require a chill out? There is no...

    Kilgore's Stout/Question/Help?

Much obliged mate. I have been taking notes every brew I make. I will make note of that.

    Kilgore's Stout/Question/Help?

I really need to figure out how to post pictures. Just a quick question. Currently as I type this. I am "cooling" my wort in my bath tub in an "ice bath". I use quotes because the bath was tepid, and I had five bags of ice. Yet, my wort is still hot. I was supposed to cool it down to at least...

Kilgore's Stout: Please read with caution. Photo's Attached.

I already added a wide mouth bubbler with a spigot and accessories to my list from northern Brewer. Along with some other things people mentioned here that made me consider some things. I have a small brain, so I have to look up brewing terminology half the time. I have actual textbooks, notes...

So much honesty and realistic outlook here. It's always appreciated. Yes, I agree with you on that part. No quota's, no pressure to put out as much as possible. Just time and patience. Just another test gone astray. Onto the next one in a week or so thankfully. I'll be posting here still. Making...

These are all great pieces of advice... I'll do the exact same recipe again. But I'm getting some new equipment for The next brew. Especially a bigger kettle. No boilover please? I should have definitely let it sit longer. Much obliged for the suggestions.

That's the interesting part. It "fermented" for 4 days? My airlock stopped bubbling after 48 hours. I used Bru Yeast-Small Batch English Ale Dry Yeast.

G'day and I bid anyone who reads this lonesome thread a wonderful morning, afternoon, and evening. I have posted once before, with excellent advice I sought for an extract dry stout I brewed semi-un-successfully. To which I brewed more afterwards. This thread is in regards to my most recent...
