Thanks for the response.
I was hoping I could pick them and use them right away without drying them out. If I can't figure out a way to do that safely, I will use your method. Since I brewed with the hops as a wet hopped beer. I was going to see if I can do the same in the fermenter without...
I am brewing with some Chinook hops I grew this year. I have enough for the brew and for dry hopping during fermentation. Is there something I need to do with the hops that I will use in the fermenter to prevent contamination of the beer? I have never tried it but would like to if possible...
So what about liquid yeast? I ordered some beer supplies last week that included Wyeast 1187 Ringwood ale yeast. The shipment sat in a UPS warehouse all weekend and it arrived today. The ice pack was warm and the yeast was 81 degrees. Will that harm the yeast?
I have a 3 burner brew system with 10" banjo burners that I think are Bayou brand burners ( its a custom built brew system I bought) and I am looking at converting to natural gas. Do I just need to change the orifice on each burner or is there something else I need to do? Can Bayou burners be...
So from what I am reading, dry hopping for 5 day would get most if not all the aroma and flovor I could get from the hops? I am fermenting an American Pale ale and going to dry hop with 2oz of amarillo hops.
So if I ferment in the primary for 7 days, transfer the beer to the secondary, let it sit in the secondary for 2 weeks, and then dry hop the beer will it make any difference to how the beer turns out? Due to scheduling issues this would be the only way I could make this current batch which will...
OK. I am going to dry hop for the first time and have some questions.
When I transfer the secondary, do I wait or can I wait a week or two to put the hops in the beer after transfering to the secondary? Also, at what point do I transfer to the secondary? Right now I go 2 weeks in the fermenter...
So it sounds like it would be fine if I don't use it until Sunday. Thanks for all the quick responses. I am still hopeful that I can brew tonight as planned.
I have made up a yeast starter that is currently on the stir plate. I was planning on brewing tonight but may not be able to due to a schedule change. If I put the yeast starter in the frig for a few days, will it negativly affect it? I would be able to use it on Sunday.
I am going to make the Sierra Nevada pale ale clone that was in the December 2012 issue of BYO magazine and it calls for a 90 minute boil adding the first hops at the beginning of the boil. What does that do different than a 60 minute boil which is what all my previous beers called for.
Looking at my Frig, the only way you might fit a 10lb tank is if you only put one keg in the frig. If all you have is a 10lb tank, just drill a hole in the frig and put it on the outside. I have seen several videos where people did that.
So looking at your photo, the foam insulation holds everything together. I was looking at cutting away the door shelves the same way so it is good to see that it won't weaken the door which was a concern I had.
