    Balsamic Vinegar Questions

Well, that was an interesting 10 minutes. http://www.seriouseats.com/2014/05/everything-you-need-to-know-guide-to-balsamic-vinegar.html I had no idea how Balsamic V. was made. After reading the article above (only one I read), I would guess that replacing the wood infusion sticks would not...

    IPA Temperature

In short, fermenting in your house. As the post before me said, what yeast? Most of the time I like to use WLP001 when fermenting an IPA. This yeast's optimal ferment temp is 68-73°F (20-23°C). Thats WhiteLab's recommendation on their website. If you're using that, I wouldn't put it in...

    Buying a new Pistol

I apologize if this gun is already mentioned, but my wife wanted to start shooting over a year ago. Her first one was a S&W Model 642 .38. She still loves it. It's a hammer-less revolver. Edit: She did NOT get the pink one! lol

    Used bottles

I re-use commercial beer bottles often, but i prefer re-using my stash of 22oz bottles. When I plan to save commercial bottles, I save the box too. I've made it a habit to rinse the bottles as soon as possible and put the cap back on, simply to keep out as much dust/etc.. as possible, not...

    Philly area Homebrewers

I've done what RJStew did. No complaints either. However, it was for a party so the alcohol was moderately flowing. Saw one on CraigsList in the Philly area, N 21st St at Arch St, for $175.. https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/for/5264741303.html

Brine or marinade a pork butt?

I do not marinade. I did a few times but never noticed the difference so now I don't bother. I've never injected either because I didn't want to "push out" the natural juices. After many rubs and variations, this is the rub I use, which has become the house rub for any pork. I like it on a big...

    Dogs

We have a female dog named Citra, and if we ever get a male dog, I'd consider Barley. Not really badass but brewing related. That's badass! lol

    SWMBO doesnt like IPAs

It's a good thing! Trust me. My wife loves IPA's as much as I do. Every batch I make or case I buy, I only get half.. haha

    Brewing with honey

Wow. Lots of stuff goign on here. Thanks for starting this thread CommonSense. 1) Thanks for everyones input. I came here because I was recently given a pound of raw honey and was asked if I could make a Brown Ale with it. I've brewed many times but never used honey. After a lot of other...

What's the name of this tank that hold hops and the beer is pumped through?

Since this is used after boil & prior to chilling.... On a homebrew scale, are using a hopback and adding hops at flame-out ideally the same? Do you get more hop characteristics from a hopback than just simply adding hops at flame-out? Thanks.
