A lot of change has got me wondering

so this beer looks much darker than i expected.... it look golden coming from the mash tun and turned dark brown by the time i pitched the yeast. I was thinking it would stay or be only a darker golden color. Its pretty cold out right now - could that have something to do with it? Doing the...

    Hemp Seed Selection

I'll check out BYO to see what they say... Admittedly, I've never considered it could be a gimmick. And, I can only think of one way to test that theory. I know the Hempen Ale brewed by Fredrick Brewing Co. was pulled from the market- no idea why.

Can you use a 25' wort chiller for a 10gallon batch?

EDIT - DELETE. Double Post.... is there a way to remove?

Can you use a 25' wort chiller for a 10gallon batch?

Good point of view Bobby... use the Boston elements to your advantage. I did my first 10 gallon with similar equipment and it worked out fine even without the winter conditions. Try running the water line though an ice bucket before it goes into the coil. It may help if your still not...

    Hemp Seed Selection

I want to try using hemp seeds in a recipe (maybe a hempen ale.. suggestions?) but see that the US has a heat sterilization mandate. Can i still brew with these seeds? Is there anything else I should consider when choosing seeds? Thanks

A hello from the second generation

Glad you joined. I looked around for awhile and found this forum to be great. Does being a second generation brewer mean hand-me-down equipment?

A lot of change has got me wondering

Im not sure what to expect with my brew now that I've made a few changes from the original IPA clone I had scaled to 10 gallons. So far Ive had to substitute hops and the yeast. I'd like to hear what everyone has to say about WYEAST 1332 Northwestern Ale with the following grain bill and hop...

    Dry-hop Vs. Randal

i agree with david... the randall in my experience is not a substitute for dry hopping. I think it's more of a gimmick than a character addition to you beer. My friend and I made one, and it now sits in my garage because my friend has deemed it "a waste of hops and beer" .. he wont use it, but I...

    Buying less Yeast

How can i store yeast to reuse? Do I just scrape it from the primary and put it in a bowl with plastic wrap on it? Also I read of people training yeast - what does that mean? :ban:
