So Ive been looking into building a keezer. I'm going to do a 8" collar. But to be different I want to affix the taps to 4" copper pipe. this would bring the taps off the wooden collar I will also put a Y fitting on the ends inside the freezer. one side will run the beer lines into the copper...
Ok so I was brewing a lovely Scottish Wee Heavy. I have an immersion wort chiller. I was wondering if anyone here has built one into their kettle. I have a standard turkey fryer kettle. Would love to just affix it inside and never worry about it again.
Just built one a couple hours ago. Decided to make one after brewing yesterday.
I previously just put hops in my kettle. I used a 5 gallon paint strainer and pouring the wort into my ferm bucket it clogged it was to much work to get it all through the strainer. I figure by building one and...
Did the same exact thing. I put my arm in sanitizer for 30 seconds and held my breath and put my arm in. No infection beer turned out great. Like said previous you have alcohol in there and that kills a lot of little nasties
don't know the wattage. It is a standard terrarium heat rope. I can control both heating and cooling. The temp controller is wired for both 1 plug heats and 1 plug cools. I got the idea and the wiring instructions from the thread in this forum. I can hold 2 buckets. I really wanted to build it...
I would pull it off the original cake if your going to ferment for any length of time. Risk of oxidation is minimal compared to the flavors the yeast give off after an extended time
yes it is roughly 6.9%. When i put in the whiskey everyone thought that 350ml was way to much and would overpower the flavor of the beer. With the Porter it didn't blow away the beer taste so i'm super excited about it
So far it's worked flawlessly. Temps hold amazingly well. The aquarium temp controller hasn't missed a beat. I am forever in debt to all who have posted their previous builds as it help a ton
So I bottled on 3/1 it's been sitting at 70 degrees. Excitement/curiosity got the best of me and I cracked one open tonight. God it's the best beer I have ever drank lol. It's got a hell of a whiskey taste when it hits the mouth but as you swallow it mellows out to a great porter flavoring. It's...
That's why I went with a Porter. Time will tell Me being new my brews are all over the place. It sucks waiting to see if your labor results in a good or bad product
yeah instructions say 350 ML of whiskey when i tasted it tasted like a whiskey and water which is ok cause i like that drink Im sure it will mello after its been in the bottle for a while
it's a whiskey barrel porter from AHS and yes im sure it's not weeks. it spend 3 weeks in primary 10 days in secondary with oak barrel chip addition and then i bottled. I added half a bottle of whiskey when i bottled.
Yeah these are sitting at 70 degrees with a .3 degree C difference my ferm chamber heats and cools. the instructions say to bottle condition for 4 months I figure i will pop 1 a month just to see the different flavor changes.
