Can You Brew It recipe for Rogue Dead Guy Ale

Triple blind test - I could not tell the difference. Aroma, taste, color - all dead on. Fantastic recipe. In fact, I was convinced the wife accidentally poured three of the same beers!

Brew too much - beers on hand

Buying liquid yeast is a big reason for my glut. Unlike dry yeast, I can can not fathom using liquid once or twice and moving on to something else. It is sorta on principal, if I am paying $8 for yeast, I'm doing every style possible with that particular yeast!

Brew too much - beers on hand

What I would give for a nice size freezer keezer. I might surprise the wife with a "gift". When she tells me "wtf, we don't need a freezer", I'll say "Oh, that sucks, I was thinking of you! I guess I'll figure out what to do with it, I lost the receipt".

Brew too much - beers on hand

I love having the variety. My doppelbock and barleywine can last forever, it is things like the heff, cream ale, the delicate little flower beers that don't age well... guess I need to be better at making sure those go out the door first. The idea of sitting on stale beer is a concern :(

Brew too much - beers on hand

I brew, I love to brew, I brew whenever I have free time. I drink, sometimes. I'm trying to be healthyish and that requires moderation. Typically I bring beers to family get-togethers, parties, etc. A case or two or three at a time makes for great times! Still, the beer piles up. I just...

    problem finding bottles

There is an android app on the market... Craigs list something or another. It automatically searches for whatever term you are looking for, day in and day out, and alerts you when something is found. Makes finding homwbrew stuff a snap. I have carboy, homebrew, bottles, keg, and a few other...

    Cincinnati Beerfest...

Stegmaier's IPA (Lion brewery) was the best IPA I've ever tasted. So full of aroma and flavor hops... *drool*. I'm miffed at the less than stellar online reviews. http://www.stegmaierbeer.com/ Any word on the results of the homebrew competition? I think they announced something over the...

    Cincinnati Beerfest...

First hangover headache since college. Ouchies. Some fried eggs with extra bacon grease woke the ole senses up. Needless to say, going to a 4 year old girl's birthday party made the headache come back. Did you know girls roam in packs and have screaming contests? Go figure!

    Basic Set of Hops

Replace centennial for willamette to cover english ales. Then you have your bases covered.

The stupidest comment on your beer

I've had the standard "your alcohol hits me harder than other alcohol".

Bread twist ties... Not for keg use

So I have an American lager all kegged up, sitting in the basement. It gets real cold down there. Took a sample sip after a few days. I replaced the tubing but forgot where I placed the zip ties or ss clamps. Oh well, I had... bread twist ties. I checked the beer periodically for the next...

    Worst style of beer

Columbus Brewing Company's Scottish Ale. I must have been drunk when I posted that. Looking back, it was not even that great. I am a pretty big fan of all beers. Not sure what it is about the scottish ale. I like hoppy beers. I like low hopped beers like light lagers and dopplebocks...

Can You Brew It recipe for Rogue Dead Guy Ale

I just cracked open my first Dead Guy clone. Yum! Fantastic beer, may be my new house beer. I followed the grain bill. I was about 2-3 points low on the OG but my yeast (subbed US-05 for Pacman) gave an FG about 2 points lower than the recipe. I added a little centennial to the 60 min boil...

    Worst style of beer

There is a time and place for all beer styles. I used to think I hated scottish ales... Until I had a good one. The light lager category is my favorite to brew. They are technically challenging, easy to drink on a hot day, and appeal to the most number of friends/family.
