    WLP644 -Brett B Trois

I made a beer with this, pretty normal 1.050 gravity/all barley malt, and co2 bubbles have been coming for the past 2-3 weeks. Looks like it's been active for a very long time. I put a good amount in from a starter and it was only a 1 gallon batch. It's weird that it's still going. It's about...

    First barleywine recipe

I figured it would get into brown ale color territory. Definitely a heavy beer and it looks like the ibus are gonna be in the 100+ range.

Just tried the wlp500 with soured gyle version. It's pretty good! It's tart, nutty and it hangs around a while. I'm definitely gonna make it again in the summer some time. The other half I ended up dumping. It was metalic and gross.

Using an immersion chiller inside out for larger batches

Hmmm, sounds like I may go for a new plate chiller. I thought that maybe with a couple refills this could work. I like the couterflow idea, but I'll still want to use it for 3 gallon batches and that sounds like a lot of trouble. Thanks for your wisdoms

Using an immersion chiller inside out for larger batches

Hey y'all. I'm trying to go from 3-5 gallon batches to 15-20 gallon batches and I'm thinking of ways to save a little money. I have this 25' immersion chiller that I use in a 4 gallon pot and it works in about 4-5 mintues with some gentle stirring.I'm thinking for a batch 5+ times the size this...

Alternative Grain Beer Light Rye Ale

I have brewed this a few times and it's great! Once I had a gravity of 1.065 that finished at 1.020 and I used some simcoe for the finishing hops. The simcoe and the rye really went well together and it was actually really good. Maybe I measured the fg wrong. I have a batch half lagered half...

I may go with the single shot of hops too. It's wine after all

    First barleywine recipe

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking the cascades would just ad a little resin texture and probably not much flavor or scent. What do you think about the munich? I do enjoy the flavor it adds but maybe I could reduce or not use it. I would use some nottingham but I'd like to use something I...

Bottled the non-tart portions last week and tasted the first wlp500 last night. Pretty good stuff!

    First barleywine recipe

Hey all, I brewed some bigger 1.080ish beers before but this is a first. Thinking a malt forward barleywine that gets a solid year of age. Possibley introduce some brettanomyces in secondary of bottling, but maybe not. Here's what I'm thinking 3 gallons finished 1.1 og 1.027 fg 6lbs 2row...

    Patersbier Ex-bier-iment

Just racked to two glass 3 gallon carboys. The blend tastes alchoholic, phenolic and fruity and the wlp500 tastes like sweet older fruit, not as alchoholic and harsh. Probably gonna bottle in two weeks once they're clearer

    Underpitched = off flavours?

How do you package the beers you use this yeast in?
