Any tips for earning extra cash?

That's a LOL. First one all day.

Help me identify this Philco freezer

I don't know. I've never been too hot on the idea of having a big fixture mounted on top of these things as it complicates opening them. I absolutely despise "things that make other things difficult", and having to worry about banging up the tower when I opened the lid might drive me nuts.

    New to All Grain

To get started, aside from reading Palmer's book, I would highly recommend downloading the free trial of one of the brewing programs. I use BeerSmith2, which takes some effort to master, but you don't need to master it for it to make your first AG batches less nerve-wracking. It calculates...

Paint Strainer Bag for BIAB: Are these food grade/heat resistance

I don't BIAB, but in the hypothetical land of pure mechanical physics that exists in my head, the nylon will never melt as long as there is a sufficient buffer of wort around the entirety of the bag. Where there will be trouble is when the bag and the bottom of the pot get too close and that...

Help me identify this Philco freezer

Thanks, man. I ran it for about an hour last night to see if it cooled and it was starting to form ice on the coils before I turned it off. I will try to locate an appliance repair shop but I have to admit loading and unloading this thing again does not sound like fun. On a side note, does...

    O2 Infusion Kit Fail

Return the original bottle. One thing about Home Depot is they will literally take anything back, no questions asked.

Accidentally dumped my stir bar down the drain

Is it a sink or a bathtub drain? Either way, there is a p-trap on it and I would be surprised if it made it through the trap. If its a sink, you should be able to check very easily.

what the heck is this white stuff?

I've got a batch of stout from 5 years ago, still sitting in a glass carboy that I am too lazy to deal with. It has a layer of that stuff on it as well.

Accidentally dumped my stir bar down the drain

It's pretty easy, and if it's that cheapo white plastic like a lot of them are these days, you can likely take it apart and reassemble it by hand. Just have a disposable towel nearby, and some febreeze for the foul demon odor you may release. Of course, if you lost it down the bathtub drain...

    BRAND NEW "brewer", tips??

The tin foil suggestions are spot on. I fold a piece over twice to make a smaller square, then dunk it in sanitizer and crimp it on. If you don't have sanitizer, buy some cheap-ass vodka.

    whats that stuff called

For me, an immediate scrub with Oxiclean and hot immersion chiller water gets almost all of it off. The rest I think of as tattoos for my brew pot. It's just trying to be an individual.

    O2 Infusion Kit Fail

This is good to know, but he removed the stone and still didn't get air. I use a regulator from a torch kit and like raouliii said, it has to be WAY open before it is open. But I'm guessing you probably opened it all the way, so who knows? If I was you, I would probably buy another O...

Question about Alcohol Boost and FG

I think the concept of boosting alcohol only yields frustration, especially to newer brewers. A good recipe doesn't need more alcohol, and there are always good recipes for stronger beers. Option B is take a shot of everclear after each beer.

Over-aerating during siphoning to bottle bucket?

The air bubble is not a leak. I haven't used a racking cane in years, but I get this problem when racking with vinyl hose from a better bottle into a keg. All I have to do is hold the hose end higher than the level of the beer, open the valve, then slowly lower the hose into the keg. The...
