Where can I get this fermenter in the U.S.??

It's somewhat similar to the fermenter in the Coopers Microbrewery kit, but you have to buy the whole kit to get it, as far as I know. I have one and like the fermenter. There are recessed handles on the side, and the top is wider than the one pictured in the wiki article.

    Good Bars in NYC?

I went to Spuyten Duyvil for the first time last night, and it's definitely worth the trip to Brooklyn. Excellent beer and a good vibe. I really hate Williamsburg, but this place will make me go back.

Will a wort chiller work with my faucet?

Thanks. It might be worth it, but I really hoped there was an easier solution. :)

Will a wort chiller work with my faucet?

Hmm. The first is a thought, but I need to see what I can find. The hose is a retractable hose--no way it's going to be connected to the chiller.

Will a wort chiller work with my faucet?

I have a portable dishwasher fixture on my kitchen sink faucet. Here is the best image I can find. I can't take this off to use a wort chiller, and I don't have access to a garden hose. Are there any solutions to this problem, or am I going to have to go without until we move in a couple...

    Did I smack too soon?

I have a 2000 mL Erlenmeyer, so I can do about 2 qts, I think. I'm not really sure how much DME and water to use. I read somewhere that 2 oz. DME should be used per 400 mL water. So, do I start with 8 oz. DME and 1600 mL water, or will that be too much for the flask?

    Did I smack too soon?

Thanks. I needed that. By "step it up," do you mean add additional wort? I doubt I'll do that for this batch, but I might for a high-gravity batch later on.

    Did I smack too soon?

I'm planning to brew an Alt (NB extract kit) this weekend, and I'm making a starter for the first time. I'm using one of the Wyeast smack packs, and I just smacked it, thinking I could make the starter tomorrow night for a Saturday brew. Now, though, it seems like everything I'm reading...

    Fire escape lagering

What about using one of the Igloo IceCube coolers for fermentation/lagering? http://www.brewboard.com/index.php?showtopic=60288 I just started using one of these in my Brooklyn apartment, and it's compact, doesn't need to be plugged in, and works well so far. I have my Kolsch firmly in the...

    Newbie in Brooklyn

Thanks for the welcome! I'm rarely in downtown Brooklyn, but Park Slope has a good beer shop in Bierkraft. They have a really nice selection (plus they have the best ice cream sandwiches in the city).

    Newbie in Brooklyn

Hi, all! My name is Valerie, I live in Brooklyn, and I got started brewing when my husband bought a Coopers kit for me for Valentine's Day. I'm on my third batch, and I've upgraded and supplemented the kit along the way. First batch was good, second batch (Hefeweizen) had issues due to a heat...
