What I did for beer today

shared my Saison with HBT!!! A recipe that turned out well for me. One of those, "I wish someone would invent taste-o-vision for the internet" moments. Doing an Irish Red with cherries tomorrow, i'll keep you all posted.

    First Saison

That's what I was thinking, it laces nicely, tastes great, but the head disappears after about five minutes. No biggie for me, it drinks just as well and i'm sure my fishing buddies (who i'm trying to convert to homebrew) will enjoy it as well. On a side note, it smells like a fresh sliced...

Ipa stuck at 1.030 help me plz

That's the problem with transferring to secondary before reaching FG. I think you lost a lot of your yeast, but if they pooped out before you reached FG, that suggests your mash temps where a bit high and left some sugars around the yeast couldn't eat. If you want to get that gravity down you...

    First Saison

Here you go, all I have for notes on this one. My comments are a bit lacking in detail.... it is pretty straightforward. Like I said in a previous post, this one is lacking in head retention, so I may consider Carapils somewhere in the recipe at some point, or leave well enough alone. Cloud 9...

    First Saison

Clove at first, followed by a semi-sweet / spice flavor (think peppered banana and papaya), and finishes citrus. Could use a bit of improvement in the head retention department, but overall one of my finer brews.

PSA: Check your tank's weight after a fill

Also, I have found that those paper gaskets sometimes included (by OxArc at least) are typically old and leak.... invest in a teflon gasket. Perhaps this time I can use my tank for more than one keg! :off:

Some help with my water report?

As far as flavor in concerned, my tap water is pretty good, no off flavors that I know of. I was just curious if someone can help break down my water report for me and what it means to my home brewing? http://www.cityofml.com/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/1028 (I am on Well 4, if that helps)...

What I did for beer today

I made my first Saison. Basically went with some pilsner malts, wheat, and centennial hops. Pitched 3724, so it's a pretty basic saison. I guess I will see what happens.

My "Milk Drinker" Amber Ale. Sort of an experimental amber made with lactose, didnt turn out too bad, might hop it up a bit next time.
