    most amusing thread yet

Are you pouring your entire bottle into your glass? Or drinking it right out of the bottle? Yeast sediment that accumulates at the bottom of the bottle can cause excess gas. I've had this happen a few times, and I've seen a few friends pour the whole thing before I can stop them. You should...

How long to lager my Altbier?

Also, after racking should I keep it at the same temp in the fridge?

How long to lager my Altbier?

Ah, definitely confused cold crashing with lagering. Since its already in the fridge I'll let it sit for the full 48 hours then rack. If anything I've learned to read up more on the style of beer I'm making BEFORE I make it. I'm not sure if I completely understand the significance of the...

How long to lager my Altbier?

I've got an altbier that's been in the fermentor for 10 days. We put in the fridge yesterday (about 40 degrees). How long should I leave it in there? I think I've read 2 days but not sure. Thanks, Rob

    Russian In-sights Stout

Looks like I may have to make the brew date on that a bit earlier! Thanks Phil!

    Russian In-sights Stout

I'm looking to make a Russian Imperial Stout for the winter months of 2010. I know this beer is going to be BIG and needs some additional aging. My questions are 1) how long is recommended for leaving this in the fermentor 2) should it be racked to secondary 3) how long for bottle...

    Yeast Starter

I'll be brewing my 5th batch relatively soon and have not yet used a yeast starter. I want to start using this method but I have two problems- one is a suitable container to put a starter in. The other is that since I order all of my kits pre-packaged (I order kits from Homebrewer's Outpost) I...

    Hello from MI

Coming from PH, hop on 69 West until you get to the Lapeer exit (Lapeer/Pontiac) which will dump you onto M-24. I'm north on 24 about 15 minutes from that exit. I actually go to Port Huron quite frequently- some of my favorite restaurants are up there.

    Hello from MI

Hey all, I joined this forum some time ago when I first became interested in homebrewing. Unfortunately my interest has only recently been rekindled but after lurking on the noob threads here, reading Palmer's book (multiple times now) and spending hours more watching videos I am finally ready...

    Hey from MI

Very cool! I love Port Huron; I go out there pretty often in the summer time. I'm sure I wouldn't want to be there now, though. I've got enough snow here to deal with!

I live in Lapeer, which is about 30 minutes East of Flint and about an hour West of Port Huron. What about you?

    Getting Supplies...

Hey all. I'm a 100% new brewer (the closest I've gotten to brewing my own beer so far is drinking it from a brewery...) and I'm wondering where to get the supplies I'll need. There is a Home Depot in my area, along with stores like WAL-MART and such. Where should I look to buy hops? Thanks all!
