We had an almost full keg leftover from wedding party. (Everyone drank the IPA) My only idea on salvaging it is to transfer it into my cornys and recarbonate it. Its a full 1/2 barrel. cant fit it in the fridge or my small 2 corny kegerator. Ill have to transfer it with the pump tap/...
Yeah...I was leaning towards the Amarillo...Ive used it as a single hop before and always loved it. Galena is an all purpose hop...maybe use it for bittering and finish with the Amarillo? I have a few hours to decide
Making a basic American Wheat today....5 lbs 2 row....3.5 lbs white wheat....1lb Vienna and German Ale yeast.
I have large quantities of Amarillo, Columbus, Chinook, Galena, Goldings.
Any suggestions on Hop additions out there?
Thanks
So i guess it doesn't matter which way you do it? I am steeping the crystal 60 in 4 gallons, then I'll add the syrup and top it up to 6 gallons to boil. Its a steam beer.
I've been doing all-grain for the last 60-some batches and decided to do a few extract brews to save time. For a full wort boil, can I steep the specialty malts in the entire 6 gallons, remove and brew as usual OR start with a smaller amount like 2 gallons, steep the specialty malts then top it...
Thinking of ordering some organic malts from the 7 Bridges Co-op. The Great Western malts are a lot cheaper than Breiss. Has anyone any advice on which brand to go with. The Great Western is $0.40-0.60 cheaper per pound. And the 50 lb sacks of 2-row are GW-$42 and Breiss-$59. Is the Great...
Just made some syrup and still have 5 lbs frozen to make wine with. For chokecherry beer, maybe you could just add a little prepared syrup to secondary. But then you are adding more sugars. Maybe the straight unsweetened juice would be the better option. Hmmm, maybe Ill try that for my...
Hey anyone have a decent recipe or hints as to what ingredients are used. This years just hit the shelves, I'm on my third sixer and I know I need to make a similar winter ale. Hope it snows tonight.
Good idea. Ive never used the nylon bags, but I always clean and reuse the muslin bags. Also just found the Hopstopper contraption. Might try to build something with more surface area.
I recently had my homemade hop screen get so clogged during the runoff, that I had to reach in and clean off the hops after the wort had cooled! Besides the risk of infection, this also allowed for much more trub to get thru. The 60 minute Columbus hops were small and broken up, so there were...
Man, Im fixing to start brewing an IPA right now too. Totally have no idea what yet. Im thinking of doing a Stone IPA clone with Magnum and Cascade.
I recently made the second batch of my Amarillo Wheat. which has only Amarillo. Amarillo does well alone. But for a hoppy IPA I would bitter...
Here's my recipe for Honey IPA. It was inspired by Hopslam but I couldn't find any recipes out there so I just gave it a try.
9 lbs US 2row
2 lbs munich
2 lbs crystal 60
2.5 lbs bulk wildflower honey
.8 oz Columbus 60 minutes
.6 oz Nugget 60
1 oz Cascade 20
1 0z Cascade 0-5 minutes...
