    came home today and checked the carboy and I am starting to see some activity on the surface so I'm just going to let it roll and see what happens. What is the best method to aerate the wort prior to pitching? Cheers! 12oz

    Kombat and McKnuckle, I threw the yeast in dry (amateur hour) I am using M84 dry Bohemian yeast. Have always dry thrown ale yeast without worry. I have my blow off into a 22oz bottle. I did not aerate, shook carboy when yeast was applied. I am standing by for good results. Cheers, 12oz

    First Lager - Primary Fermentation Temperature

    Brewing my first lager and pitched the yeast a little under 50 degrees and have not seen any activity yet. Does a bottom fermenting beer act the same as a top fermenting during primary? Current temp in reefer is 46-50. Nervous first timer worries. Cheers, 12oz

    Brewed 2 batches today, an Amber and a Wheat ale. I used Saaz and Chinook for The Wheat and Saaz and Centennial for The Amber. Used American ale yeast for the wheat and Belgian Strong for the Amber. Should be interesting. @Surume,do You have a place to brew outside? I use a gas burner...
