This is my first season growing hops. I have this setup, but they are growing taller then my trellis system. Do I just cut them off where my twine ends at the top or let them keep going? Also, I have been just letting them shoot out and not trimming any as I heard the first year just let them go to establish roots etc. Should I be trimming some of the ones shooting off the sides off or just train them around the twine?

I wouldn't cut them off, eventually the vertical growth will slow and you'll get hop cones. I also would just let the side vines grow. I grow 3 plants on a 8ft. high arbor, they grow up and then kind of over the top.
