you could use it, but I wouldn't put more than 2 plants on that thing... she'll collapse like Ted Kennedy on a day without boose....

gotta consider both sheer force on the pins that hold the sections in place, as well as the lateral force on the joints from wind.

We bought a house a while back that had a big flagpole right in the middle of the yard. My wife wanted to rip it out, but it's the perfect place to grow hops! I have 4 plants that I put in 4' from the pole with stringers running up top the top. I can lower those all at one time just like lowering a flag. I put them in last year and they got about 1/2 way up, but I'm hoping for them to fill out this year.

Interesting idea, although my camping experiences with collapsing poles is the locking cams jamb very easily and are impossible to fix.
