Is there a big difference between extract that are liquid and extract that are powder

I am wondering if there is much difference between liquid (canned, 1.5-kilo malt extract) and the powder malt (dehydrated)?

It seems that the powder one is cheaper and can be stored once the bag is opened.

The powder, DME, is usually more expensive IME. The liquid, LME, is about 20% water, so that should be accounted for in a price comparison as well.
