Default theoretical OG question

I was wondering if someone could estimate what my OG was? I forgot to measure it and am wondering what my abv might be.

I'm using a Munton's bock beer kit which is supposed to have an OG of 1.040-1.044, and then I added 3 lbs of DME. what would that bring the gravity up to?

Without any other information about what was in the kit, BeerSmith says about 1.069.

if that is correct, then my beer is nearly 9%abv

current gravity reading is 1.004

If I remember correctly, a Munton's kit will tell you to use corn sugar along with the extract. Did you replace the recommended corn sugar with the DME? Or did you do corn sugar + DME?

the kit just said "add sugar or malt if you desire" but never recommended a specific amount. I happened to have the 3#DME on hand, so I added it in. I only had about .25lb of sugar, but I still added that as well.

if you know your ingredient list there is a formula to predict your finish and starting gravity.
