Hi all
Stupid question but should you want to take an sg reading before say the ten day mark or so do you simply open your fermenters tap to extract your brew? Will it not affect the rest of the brew should it not be finished?

Just be sure to sanitize anything that touches the beer and you should be fine. Usually, I take a sample on day 7 or whenever it appears fermentation has finished. Also, don't pour the sample back into your fermenter. I always drink my samples. At the 10 day mark a taste of the sample will give you a pretty good idea of what it will taste like warm and flat.
