Default question about a starter for a lager

Getting ready to do my first lager. The recipe calls for fermenting it at 50 degrees. When i make my starter do i want to keep it at 50 degrees also while it gets going?
thanks

You can make lager starters at room temperature or at fermentation temperature. I make mine at room temp then chill, decant the spent beer and then equilibrate the yeast slurry to pitching temp before adding it too my wort.

You can also cheat and use dry yeast. Two packs of Saflager W-34/70 will get you in the vicinity of two packs of WLP830 in a two-gallon starter, enough for 5 gallons of normal-gravity (1.050ish) wort.
