Default Need to make Yeast Starter, Have No Method of Weighing DME

So, can anyone give me an approximate volume for 6 ounces of dried malt extract?

I'm flexible, so if you give me an answer for a metric starter that works too

Goto your local grocery and my a $20 digital scale. Its a required item for brewing.

Try 3/4 cup. 4 oz=1/2 cup 6oz=3/4 cup.
These are measured by volume and may be a bit different. I don't think it will make much difference though.

One ounce (volume) of water is about one ounce (weight).
DME is much less dense than water, though.

I use 1/3 cup of DME per pint of starter.
The weight will vary a little, but it's about 2 ounces.

Use 1:4 DME to water by volume to make a starter.

example 1 cup DME + 4 cups water makes roughly a 1 liter starter.

It should be just that easy

I've never taken a reading but I'll wager it's around 1.037 +/- Not that it makes a huge differance but I use wheat DME. I was told the wheat malt makes for healthy yeast

Dry malt extract is about 44 degrees per pound per gallon.

I used a more dilute solution, 1 cup dme per 5 cups water.
