Default Can't stop the foam

It's 3am and I'm looking at my first stout brew that just blew the airlock and won't stop foaming - is there a way to stop that or should I dump it?

NO!!!! Dumping it would be a travesty! Leave the airlock off and install a blowoff tube. Check out www.howtobrew.com for detailed instructions on how to do this.

Basically, you have a very active fermentation.

Whew! Man, I'm glad you didn't dump it! Would have to report you for alcohol abuse if you had!

It's a blow off and for me it happens maybe 25% of the tie once my basement heats up to over 65 (July).

Aside from being totally anal about sanitation, I think blow-off tubes are the first major lesson we all need to learn as homebrewers.
