Last night I brewed an AG grain batch and took a SG reading after mash out. It was 1.034 compensated for temperature and the wort volume was 7.5 gallons. I forgot to take a post boil SG reading before I pitched the yeast and put it in the fermenter. The post boil volume in the fermenter is 5 gallons. Can I figure out the post boil SG given the above information?

Yes.

You have 34 gravity units in your beer. When you reduced the volume from 7.5 gallons to 5 gallons (by boiling), you concentrated it, but the same number of sugars are in there. So your new O.G. is simply based on the ratio of original volume to final volume.

O.G. = 34 * 7.5 / 5 = 51

So your post-boil O.G. is 1.051.
